MILTON POLICE SEARCH FOR POSSIBLE SECOND INFANT REMAINS
A heavy police presence surrounded a Center Street home in Milton Thursday, the same property where a newborn was found buried last year. Police blocked the street, taped off the home and brought in a backhoe as investigators excavated the backyard. Authorities now say a juvenile is in custody in connection with the earlier infant death, while police also searched for the possible remains of a second baby. Officials have not said whether additional remains were found.

Mill Hall Borough Police say the incident happened September 14th at Central Mountain Middle School. Investigators say the student broke apart a classroom table, then held a steel table leg and threatened the officer who intervened. The teen is charged with terroristic threats and institutional vandalism, with the case headed to Clinton County Juvenile Court.
WILLIAMSPORT LOSES GENERAL SHELTER FOR WOMEN AND FAMILIES
Williamsport is now without a general shelter for women, children and families experiencing homelessness following the September 11th closure of the Saving Grace Shelter. According to the Sun Gazette, Next Step Ministries had planned to buy the Campbell Street property, but has withdrawn its offer after learning the building could house only 24 people without costly upgrades. American Rescue Workers still operates a temporary men’s shelter, while the YWCA provides shelter for domestic violence victims. Next Step says it will continue looking for a larger location.
FLICK CHILD CUSTODY REFORM BILL GETS CAPITOL HEARING MONDAY
State Representative Jamie Flick will put his child custody reform bill in the spotlight Monday at the state Capitol. The South Williamsport Republican’s House Bill 1499 would establish equal shared custody as the starting point when both parents are willing, able and fit, while allowing courts to modify custody when warranted. A press conference, House Judiciary Committee hearing and public panel are scheduled throughout the day. Flick says the measure now has 78 bipartisan co-sponsors.

Employees at Loyalsock Township Middle School noticed injuries to the child’s neck and chest and contacted police. Dade is charged with strangulation, child endangerment, simple assault and harassment, and is free on 15-thousand dollars bail.
455-THOUSAND-DOLLAR BID SUBMITTED FOR WILLIAMSPORT CITY HALL
Williamsport has received a 455-thousand-dollar bid for its condemned City Hall on West Fourth Street. JBAS Realty of Jessup submitted the only offer, about 100-thousand dollars less than a previous bid from the same developer three years ago. The company has proposed restoring the historic 1888 building, converting upper floors into apartments and using the lower level for a café and gathering space. City officials will now review the bid for completeness.
