BUCKNELL HAZING DEATH LEADS TO CRIMINAL CHARGES
Pennsylvania’s attorney general has filed criminal charges in the death of a Bucknell University freshman football player. Calvin “C.J.” Dickey Junior collapsed during a July 2024 hazing incident on campus and died two days later. Prosecutors say former strength and conditioning coach Mark Kulbis knew Dickey had Sickle Cell trait, but still directed him through extreme exercises. Kulbis is charged with felony aggravated hazing, involuntary manslaughter, reckless endangerment and hazing. He was arraigned Monday and released on unsecured bail.
COURT DOCUMENTS SEALED IN MEMORIAL AVENUE SHOOTING CASE
Williamsport police say an arrest has been made in last month’s triple shooting at Memorial Avenue and Lloyd Street. Investigators say the alleged gunman was taken into custody Wednesday, but a judge has sealed the court documents, so the suspect’s name and charges have not been released. The June 29th shooting killed 18-year-old Nasir Kramer of Williamsport and wounded two other teens, ages 17 and 19. Police say more information will be released when available.
SELINSGROVE COUNCIL REJECTS ICE PARTNERSHIP
Selinsgrove Borough Council has voted against formally partnering with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Council members rejected joining ICE’s 287-g program by a 5-to-2 vote Monday night, which would have allowed borough police to assist with limited immigration enforcement. Officials say public opposition played a major role in the outcome. Last week, more than 150 people attended a meeting on the issue, and a petition opposing the proposal included 412 Selinsgrove residents.

A Snyder County judge has denied a bail reduction for a Shamokin Dam man accused of attempted homicide. Thirty-three-year-old Joshua Barnhart has been held on 200-thousand dollars cash bail since April, after prosecutors say he threatened to shoot people inside a Stetler Avenue home. The homeowners told the judge Monday they fear for their lives if he is released. Barnhart’s attorney asked for house arrest or lower bail, but the judge cited the seriousness of the charges and kept bail unchanged.
