A late-night disturbance in Jersey Shore left a police officer injured and a woman behind bars. Authorities say officers were called to North Main Street Saturday night for a welfare check when 33-year-old Jessica Barger allegedly ran from the apartment and fought with police. During the chase, a Lycoming Regional officer fell down a flight of stairs, suffering serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. Police say Barger continued to resist and had to be subdued. She now faces multiple charges and is being held on 75-thousand dollars bail.

State police say the fire, possibly caused by a propane leak, remains under investigation. As the community mourns, donations are being collected to help the surviving husband and father, with The Old School Market, at 34 East End Mountain Road, serving as a main drop-off point for money, food and clothing, and a fund also established through First National Bank for those looking to help.
