POLICE SEARCHING FOR HOMICIDE SUSPECT
Pennsylvania State Police are searching for a South Williamsport man accused of ramming his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle and firing a rifle at her along Route 220. Troopers say an arrest warrant has been issued for 47-year-old Adam Taylor on attempted homicide charges following the incident yesterday afternoon in Woodward Township. Police say Taylor fled, stole a red Dodge Ram pickup, and was last seen in the Jersey Shore area. No injuries were reported. Out of caution, the Jersey Shore Area School District announced a flexible instruction day for security reasons as the search continues.
RAPE CHARGE AQUITTAL FOR SHAMOKIN MAN
A Northumberland County jury has found a Shamokin man not guilty of felony rape and sexual assault charges after about 90 minutes of deliberations. According to the Daily Item, Michael Craig was acquitted following a two-day trial involving allegations from a former student dating back to 2015. Prosecutors cited delayed reporting as a challenge in the case, while the defense argued testimony did not support the charges. District Attorney Mike O’Donnell said he respects the jury’s decision and expressed continued concern for the alleged victim.
GAME COMMISSION TO VOTE ON 2026-27 HUNTING SCHEDULE
The Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners will meet January twenty-third and twenty-fourth to consider preliminary hunting seasons and bag limits for the twenty-twenty-six, twenty-seven license year. Among the proposals is whether to start the firearms deer season the Saturday before Thanksgiving or keep the current post-Thanksgiving opening. The board will also review possible changes to bear and turkey seasons, including Sunday hunting for spring gobbler, with final decisions expected in April.

Library officials say the funding will be used to purchase a new AWE children’s computer and enhance science and technology programming for kids and teens across Union County. The investment is aimed at boosting literacy, problem-solving, and hands-on learning for families.
LYCO PRISON INMATE FACING NEW CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE CHARGES
New evidence has led to additional charges against a Lycoming County Prison inmate accused of possessing child sexual abuse material. According to the SUN Gazette, City police say 69-year-old Steven Carter-Hicks now faces more than 1,100 additional felony counts after a forensic review of his electronic devices uncovered far more images and videos than originally reported. Following arraignment before a district judge, Carter-Hicks was recommitted to Lycoming County Prison on an additional five hundred thousand dollars bail.
BOARD ACCEPTS FORMER WASD PRINCIPAL’S RESIGNATION
The Williamsport Area School Board has accepted the resignation of high school principal Roger Freed, nearly a year after he was found not guilty of charges involving inappropriate sexual contact with a former student. According to the Sun Gazette, Freed had been suspended without pay since the summer of 2022. District officials say that despite his acquittal, he did not return to work while the district conducted its own internal review. His resignation took effect December 11.
STATE TO FINE EUREKA RESOURCES FOR FAILING TO CLEAN UP IN TIME
A Williamsport company cited in the release of more than 11,000 gallons of fracking wastewater last August is now facing state violations. The Department of Environmental Protection says Eureka Resources missed cleanup deadlines at its Second Street and Catawissa Avenue facilities in Williamsport, with removal not yet started at its Standing Stone site in Bradford County. DEP says over 2 million gallons of stored liquid waste have been removed so far from the Williamsport locations, trucked to permitted disposal and recycling facilities. The original leak was discovered after fishermen spotted an oily sheen on the Susquehanna River near the Hepburn Street Dam.
GOVERNOR VISITS PA FARM SHOW
Governor Josh Shapiro toured the Pennsylvania Farm Show, greeting farmers, sampling food, and admiring the butter sculpture while steering away from talk of his 2026 re-election bid. According to Penn Live, Shapiro praised agriculture as a key economic driver, pointing to faster permitting and the state’s Agricultural Innovation Grant program. Though he said he wasn’t campaigning, Shapiro did criticize former President Trump’s trade and immigration policies, saying farmers need reliable labor and fair compensation.
