POLICE SEARCH FOR SHOOTER IN WOODED AREA OF COAL TOWNSHIP
Officers searched for four hours Sunday after a reported shooting in a wooded area of Coal Township. According to the News Item, two men riding mini-bikes encountered a burned SUV near Fidler Green Road around four p.m., when another male began firing at them. The riders escaped on one bike to Anthra Plaza, where they called for help. Multiple local departments, state police, and drone teams searched the area, but no arrests were announced and the investigation continues.
OLD LYCO AREA ROAD SHUT DOWN FOR TWO HOURS AFTER CAR FIRE
A stretch of Grimesville Road was shut down for about two hours Monday afternoon after a pickup truck caught fire in Old Lycoming Township. Police say the driver pulled off the road because of mechanical trouble, but flames broke out in the engine compartment and spread into the cab around one-fifteen. Firefighters from the city and township battled burning fuel leaking from the gas tank before getting the blaze under control. The truck was a total loss, and no injuries were reported.
SU REJECTS BOROUGH’S WATER BILLING RE-PAY OFFER
Susquehanna University has rejected Selinsgrove borough’s offer to settle a long-running water billing dispute. According to the Daily Item, borough council proposed waiving more than forty-five-thousand dollars in late fees if the university paid nearly one-hundred-eighty-two-thousand dollars over four years for under-billed water use. University officials countered with a lower settlement offer, arguing they were never billed for the usage in question and relied on borough meter readings. Both sides deny responsibility for the error, and the matter now appears headed toward further legal review.
PENNDOT CLOSED FOR MLK WEEKEND
PennDOT offices across Pennsylvania will be closed this weekend for the Martin Luther King Junior Day holiday. PASSENGER IN CAR PULLED FOR CHASE FACING ASSAULT CHARGES

Police say the passenger in the vehicle, Michael Rosetta, is now facing charges tied to an earlier disturbance at a Trevorton tavern, where state police allege he struck a female employee and left without paying his tab. About 30 minutes later, Mount Carmel police tried to stop a car with a suspended registration, leading to a high-speed pursuit and crash in Locust Gap. The driver, Cody Glosek of Shamokin, faces multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault and fleeing police, while Rosetta is expected to be charged separately.

The new President of Meta has ties to Pennsylvania. The parent company of Facebook and Instagram announced Monday that Dina Powell McCormick, the wife of U.S. Senator Dave McCormick, will be taking on the role. Powell McCormick served as a deputy national security adviser in President Trump’s first term and briefly joined Meta’s Board of Directors last year.
