MAN DROWNS IN CHILLISQUAQUE CREEK
Officials have confirmed that a man who was reported missing Saturday in Chillisquaque Creek near Danville drowned in the water there.  According to WKOK, search teams from Union, Lycoming, Columbia and Northumberland County responded to a missing swimmer in the water in Montour county.  The Lycoming County Coroner said Arlen Weaver was at the creek with his family and lost his grip on a floatation device, he was pronounced dead at the scene.  State Police say an investigation is ongoing.

DANGEROUS HEAT ON THE WAY OUT
The dangerous heat and humidity should leave us this week.  According to the National Weather service, the week shouldn’t see too much rain overall with just a few pop up thunderstorms.  The temperatures are predicted to only reach “normal” summer temperatures with Highs in the 80s and overnight lows down to the 50s and 60s.

SUPERCHARGE STATIONS COMING TO WILLIAMSPORT
A local convenience store has plans to add charging stations for Tesla vehicles mirroring the installation recently completed at Altoona-based Sheetz stores in Blair County.  The Sheetz on Maynard Street in Williamsport will add a parking area and eight Tesla Supercharger stations.  According to the Sun Gazette, there are 21 Sheetz locations that offer the superchargers.

WASTEWATER FUNDING TO HELP INFRASTRUCTURE
Lycoming County will receive more than 380 thousand dollars for wastewater management through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority or “PENNVEST”. State officials say investing in a reliable wastewater treatment plant is instrumental for safe water for the future of our community, and will keep jobs in Lycoming County.  In a press release officials say the first phase of the project is for the authority to upgrade the wastewater treatment plant.  The loan will also help purchase a vacuum street sweeper to help meet the sediment reduction goals that  three area townships strive to meet.

HIGHWAY DEDICATED TO PA VETS
A segment of roads in Centre County has been dedicated as the Central Pennsylvania Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway, honoring the 3,147 Pennsylvanians lost in that conflict.  State officials were on hand to dedicate segments of the intersection of  Routes 192 and 477 to the intersection with Route 144 in Centere Hall.  The Nittany Leathernecks Marine Corps League presented the colors at the ceremony which had to be performed indoors since signage was not yet ready to be installed along the actual highway.

AFFORDABLE SENIOR HOUSING GROUNDBREAKING
There will be a groundbreaking ceremony near Lock Haven for new affordable housing for the elderly called Susquenhannock Heights.  According to the Sun Gazette, the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency is a funding partner using over 800 thousand dollars in Low-income housing tax credits and almost 400 thousand dollars in PennHOMES funding.  Agencies in Clinton county are also contributing to funding the build.  The 32-unit seniot housing complex will be located at 813 Linden Street. The Ceremony will take place at 200 Youngs Avenue on July 30th in Flemington.

“MOOSE” MUSSINA INDUCTED INTO NATIONAL HALL OF FAME
Former Yankee and Oriole pitcher Mike Mussina who hails from Montoursville joined 5 other players Sunday as they were inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.  According to the Sun Gazette, Moose Mussina spoke at the induction ceremony at Clark Sports Arena yesterday and made mention of his roots at Lyter Elementary school.  Mussina helped the Yankees and Orioles to 9 postseason games in his 18 years as a pitcher, he was a 5 time All-Star and 7-time Golden Glove award winner.
