HOUSING UNIT FOUND OMITTED FROM REPORT

Williamsport City officials may have found discrepencies in the Park Avenue Plan Report compiled by a New York State Consulting firm.  Ingalls Planning and Design of Fairport, New York was paid over 80 thousand dollars to report on the condition of housing in the area but missed reporting on PD Mitchell – a multi-unit housing complex operated by the Lycoming Housing Authority.  City codes administrator Joseph Gerardi  told the Williamsport Sun-Gazette that he discovered the report may be inaccurate about how many properties actually have serious code violations.

ROBBERY IN UNITYVILLE

Pennsylvania State Police are searching for a suspect in a residential burglary in Unityville.   They say someone forcibly broke into a home along Homebase Lane in Jordan Township and stole a phone, a video game console and a wrench set in mid-May.  No one was injured .  Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact State police in Montoursville.

MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT IN TIOGA COUNTY

A 48-year old man from Tioga County was struck by a car while riding a motorcycle on May 21st.  According to State Police Timothy Schoonover of Blossburg was traveling along Routh 15 in south Mansfield about to turn into Eisenhauer’s Harley Davidson on S. Main St. and was clipped from behind by a 2018 Nissan driven by 71 year old Floyd Redmond of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania.  Schoonover, who was wearing a helmet, laid down the 1990 Harley FXR following the collision and slid a short distance.  He was transported to Soldiers and Sailors with unknown injuries.  Redmond has been charged for driving at an unsafe speed.

TREATMENT CENTER RESIDENT ASSAULTS EMPLOYEE

There will be charges against a teenage resident after PA State Police were dispatched to Clear Vision Residential Treatment Services following a call of an employee being assaulted there.  State police determined that a 15 year old female resident punched the employee multiple times with closed fists and pulled the employee’s hair.  Harrasment charges are expected to be filed this week in Clinton Township.

DUI CHECKPOINT UPDATE

As summer kicks off, the Lycoming County DUI Task Force continues to operate enforcement detail checkpoints in our area.  The most recent DUI checkpoint results are from Saturday, June 1st in Union, Montour and Northumberland Counties and include 3 DUI arrests, 10 citations issued and 39 written warnings.  No word on how many vehicles crossed through the checkpoint conducted bythe PA State Police Milton Station.

LOCAL BANK FACES CHARGES FOR FALSE ALARMS

A local bank is expected to be cited after too many false alarms have brought police to their location.  State police responded to an active security alarm at Fulton Bank on East 3rd Street in Loyalsock Township Monday morning around 7am.  Police say the bank was secure and there was no incident, but this has been the case 12 times since June of 2018.  The bank is expected to be cited in Lycoming County for Control of Alarm Devices and Automatic Dialing devices and False Alarms.

THREE STUDENT HONORED AT LYCOMING COLLEGE

Lycoming college has named several students as top athletes.  Senior wrestler Garret Wesneski from Canton and Senior women’s Lacrosse player Kelly McGinness were inducted into the College’s Athletics Hall of Fame and Junior basketball and softball player Kayla Kline was awarded the Sol “Woody” Wolf Award for a Junior showing most improvement over 3 years.

HUNTER TRAPPER CLASS SCHEDULED

The PA Game Commission has planned a hunter-trapper education class at the North-Central Divisional Office of the PA Game Commission south of Jersey Shore in June.  The 2-day class requires students to attend both classes and pass an exam for a Hunter Safety Card.  The public can register online at the Game Commission’s website or get information on their Facebook page.

SPORTS

HS baseball – It was Montgomery over  GAMP  10-0 sending them to the State Quarterfinals on Thursday  to play District 3 champion Greenwood.  It was South Williamsport shutting out Blue Ridge 11 to nothing in the first round of the State tournament, Wyoming Seminary was a winner over Montoursville 3-1.

HS softball – Bucktail loses to Old Forge 12-1, Warrior Run beat Kutztown 11-3 and advances to the state quarterfinals taking on Pine Grove this week.  Central Mountain falls in the opening round of states to Penn Trafford 13-6, and Millersburg edges Montgomery 5-4.

In Major league baseball – The Chicago Cubs downed the L.A. Angels 8 -1, The Dodgers beat the Diamondbacks 3 -1, the Padres thumped the Phillies 8 – 2 and Astros over the Mariners 4-2.

In the Stanley cup Finals Monday, Boston ties it up 2-2  after outscoring St.Louis 4-2

And at the French open Monday – Serbia’s Novak Djokovic defeats Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff  in 3 sets and American Madison Keyes advances after beating Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic 6-2 6-4
