South Williamsport Borough Council last night during their meeting accepted a proposal to prepare a letter of intent for the Army Corps of Engineers to receive levee assistance until the borough’s levee’s are up to compliance. The letter will be written by the borough’s engineer and would extend rehabilitation assistance if there was flood damage done to the levee system. The assistance would cover the time until a plan is created with the city of Williamsport to address the deficiencies. According to borough officials the plan would protect residents as well as the borough’s investment in the levee.
