A devastating house fire in Clinton County has claimed the lives of a mother and her six children. State police say the explosion and fire happened Sunday morning at a home along Long Run Road near Salona in Lamar Township. Thirty-four-year-old Sarah Stolzfus and her children, ages 3 to 11, were all trapped inside. Firefighters say the home was fully engulfed, preventing any rescue attempts. Investigators believe a propane leak inside the home may have caused the explosion.

STUDENT TEACHERS GETTING CHANCE TO APPLY FOR STIPEND
Student teachers in Pennsylvania could get a financial boost in the upcoming school year. The state is offering ten-thousand dollar stipends through the PA Student Teacher Support Program for the 2026-27 year. The funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis for those who commit to teaching in Pennsylvania for at least three years. Mentors can also receive up to 25-hundred dollars. Officials say the program is designed to ease financial strain and help grow the state’s future educator workforce. Applications are due September 15.

VOTER AUDIT ONLY FOUND ONE HUMAN ERROR DISCREPANCY
A new audit of Pennsylvania’s motor-voter system found just one case involving a non-U.S. citizen. Auditor General Timothy DeFoor says the issue was caused by human error when a PennDOT employee failed to enter immigration information, allowing the system to incorrectly classify the person as a citizen. Officials say the mistake was caught and corrected before the individual could register or vote. The audit reviewed more than 200-thousand records and concluded the system is largely working as intended, though it recommends stronger data security controls.
