MAN CAUGHT TRYING TO DESTORY EVIDENCE IN CSAM CASE
A 42-year-old Sunbury man is facing multiple felony charges after state police say he tried to destroy evidence while they served a search warrant. Investigators say Brian Thomas Lubold performed a factory reset on his cellphone and threw it in the trash just before troopers entered his apartment on April 2. Police were acting on a cybertip and recovered the phone from a bathroom trash can and also seized several other devices. Lubold is charged with multiple counts related to child sexual abuse material and remains in Northumberland County Prison on $50,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 14.
MAN THREATENS TROOPERS AT UNION COUNTY COURTHOUSE
A Philadelphia man is facing new charges after allegedly threatening state troopers following a court hearing in Union County. Police say 39-year-old William David Wilson made the threats March 31 at the courthouse in Lewisburg after a judge ruled against him. Troopers say Wilson stated he would get someone to shoot them as he left the courtroom. He’s now charged with intimidation of a witness, terroristic threats, and other offenses. Wilson is free on bail and is due back in court April 10 on separate charges.
SELINSGROVE BOROUGH SETTLES WATER ISSUE WITH SU
Susquehanna University will pay Selinsgrove Borough $156,800 to settle a water billing dispute that dates back to 2019. Borough council approved the agreement Monday after months of negotiations, following the discovery that the university had been under-billed during renovations at the Degenstein Campus Center. The university plans to make a lump-sum payment by June 30. Moving forward, the borough plans to install an electronic meter and handle readings directly to prevent future discrepancies.
NEW VOTING TOOL AVAILABLE WEDNESDAY
The League of Women Voters of the Lewisburg Area says Vote411.org will be available to Pennsylvania voters starting April 8. The nonpartisan site lets users enter their address to see their ballot, including races and candidates. It also features responses to key questions, helping voters make informed decisions before heading to the polls.
WOMAN FORGES JURY DUTY LETTER TO GET OFF WORK
A Union County woman is facing charges after allegedly forging a jury duty letter to get time off work. Prosecutors say 45-year-old Hannah Marie Snook, of New Berlin, altered an official court document to make it appear she was required to serve on additional days in January. Investigators say the document raised red flags after her employer asked the court to verify it. Police determined the letter had incorrect formatting and information. Snook later admitted to editing and sending the document. She now faces forgery and related charges and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 30.
CASE OF WOMAN ACCUSED OF EMBEZZELMENT GETS CONTINUANCE
A Northumberland County judge has granted a continuance in the case of an Elysburg woman accused of stealing more than $200,000 from a local business. Twenty-eight-year-old Danyel Balonis appeared in court Monday, where her attorney said a plea offer has been received from the district attorney’s office. According to the News Item, Police say she stole the money from SOS Metals over a six-month period in 2024 by depositing company funds into her personal bank account. Balonis remains free on unsecured bail as the case moves forward.
LOYALSOCK SCHOOLS WORKING ON BUDGET, RAISES MILLS .65
The Loyalsock Township School Board has begun approving its 2026–27 budget, which includes a small tax increase. The proposal would raise the millage rate by point-65 mills, bringing in about $480,000 in additional revenue. Officials say it would be the first tax hike in three years and remains the lowest rate in Lycoming County. Even with the increase, the district projects an $840,000 deficit but plans to cover it using reserve funds.
WASHINGTONVILLE SEEKING VOLUNTEERS FOR CLEAN UP DAY
Volunteers are needed this Saturday for Washingtonville’s 12th Annual Beautification Day. The three-hour event is organized by several local groups, including borough council and the revitalization committee. Volunteers should meet at the Jane E. DeLong Memorial Hall at 9 a.m. and are encouraged to dress for messy work. A free lunch will be provided after the event.
