TERM LIMITS APPROVED IN CITY OF WILLIAMSPORT
Williamsport City Council has given final approval to a new term limits ordinance following revisions after an earlier veto by Mayor Derek Slaughter. According to the Sun Gazette, the law sets two four-year terms for the mayor and three four-year terms for City Council, the treasurer and controller, with limited exceptions allowing some officials to seek an additional term. Supporters say the move helps prevent long-term entrenchment in city government, though some council members voiced reservations about the added exceptions.
