WILLIAMSPORT TEEN TO BE TRIED AS AN ADULT FOR 2024 HOMICIDE
Nineteen-year-old Ja’hsir Kasheem Legare of Williamsport will be tried as an adult in a homicide case following a ruling by Lycoming County Judge Ryan Gardner. Legare’s attorney had challenged the district attorney’s decision to charge him as an adult for a killing that happened when he was 17, but the judge ruled that adult court is appropriate. Legare faces multiple charges including criminal homicide and weapons violations and remains jailed at the Lycoming County Prison without bail. Pre-trial proceedings are scheduled for January 2026.

The commissioners will not vote that day; a separate meeting for the final decision will be scheduled shortly after.
