FATAL CRASH SATURDAY IN KELLY TOWNSHIP
One person is dead following a crash in Union County Saturday afternoon. State police say it happened around 4 p.m. at Route 15 and Loan Road in Kelly Township, when a pickup failed to slow for a red light and struck a stopped SUV. The driver of the SUV, 70-year-old Richard Marion of Watsontown, later died at the hospital. His passenger and the teen driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
NEW CELLPHONE LAW STARTS IN JUNE
Starting June 5, Pennsylvania drivers caught using a handheld cellphone behind the wheel will face fines under Paul Miller’s Law. The law bans holding a phone while driving, even at red lights, though hands-free use is still allowed for calls, GPS, and music. Violators will pay at least $50 plus fees. Officials say distracted driving caused nearly 10,000 crashes last year, and warn even a moment of inattention can lead to serious injuries or death.

NEW JERSEY MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT IN WILLIAMSPORT
A New Jersey man is behind bars after police say he sexually assaulted a woman in Williamsport. Investigators say the alleged victim believed she may have been drugged after drinking just one beverage. Officers found signs of a struggle inside the home and the smell of PCP. Police say the suspect, 37-year-old Joshua Jackson, was found inside the residence. He’s now charged with sexual assault and is being held on $200,000 bail.
MAN CHARGED FOR LYING ABOUT FIREARMS HISTORY
State police have charged 63-year-old Anthony Logan of Loyalsock Township after he allegedly lied while trying to buy a firearm. Investigators say Logan answered “no” to a question about prior felony convictions on a federal form while attempting to purchase a Glock frame. The sale was denied after a background check revealed multiple past convictions, including robbery and burglary. Logan now faces charges for making false statements and was released on $35,000 bail
SUNBURY COUPLE OUT TO COLLECT LIFE VESTS AT AREA YMCA’S
A Sunbury couple is working to keep kids safe on the water. Amy and Nick Telesky are hosting their second annual Children’s Life Vest Drive, collecting new and gently-used vests for families in need. Donations can be dropped off at several local YMCA locations through May 9. Organizers say life vests can cost around 30 dollars, making it difficult for some families. The vests will be distributed May 16 while supplies last.
FIRST ANNUAL EARTH DAY COMING UP IN WILLIAMSPORT
Williamsport is gearing up for a new Earth Day celebration in Brandon Park. The free, family-friendly event will take place Saturday, April 25 from 11 to 4.
