Investigators say the stolen data was used to make fraudulent purchases across multiple states, impacting vulnerable families. The pair was arrested in New Jersey following a multi-agency investigation. Officials are urging EBT users to monitor accounts and report suspicious activity.
CHARGES DROPPED IN ARSON, FRAUD CASE
State police have dropped all charges against two Lycoming County men accused in a suspected arson and insurance fraud case. Investigators say there is not enough evidence to move forward against 58-year-old Linton Hooper and 52-year-old Anthony James Junior. The charges stemmed from a sports car fire along 4 Mile Road near Trout Run last May. Authorities had alleged the men planned to burn the car for an insurance payout, but a key witness has since recanted. Charges including arson, fraud and evidence tampering have now been withdrawn.

WOMAN CHARGED FOR LEAVING SELF-HARMING CHILD ALONE
A Lewisburg woman is facing charges after police say she left her self-harming daughter home alone against recommendations. Authorities say 30-year-old Brianna Kessler ignored guidance from Children and Youth Services, which warned the 12-year-old should not be unsupervised. Police allege Kessler disabled the girl’s phone and blocked access to emergency contacts before leaving overnight for work. The child reportedly injured herself during that time. Kessler is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and is free on unsecured bail pending a hearing in April.

Officials say the updated ordinance includes increased setbacks from roads, property lines, and sensitive locations like schools and parks, along with taller building height limits. County leaders say the changes aim to balance development with community protection as interest in data centers grows before a final decision is made.
