JERSEY SHORE LAWYER ACCUSED OF MISCONDUCT
A Lycoming County attorney is facing serious misconduct allegations. Court filings with the Pennsylvania Supreme Court say 50-year-old Timothy Reitz of Jersey Shore used his position to pressure two clients into sexual situations while representing them in custody matters. Investigators say one woman alleges Reitz carried on a sexual relationship with her while he was handling her case. Reitz, who previously ran for a Lycoming County magistrate judge seat, now faces a disciplinary hearing scheduled for June.

LEVEE IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS PENDING
Williamsport is moving forward with a major levee improvement project aimed at protecting the city from flooding. City Council approved engineering work tied to an eight-million-dollar federal award for upgrades expected to total more than ten-point-seven million dollars. According to the Sun Gazette, officials say the improvements are necessary to keep the levee certified by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Without that approval, residents could lose key flood protection and see their flood insurance costs increase.

Firefighters quickly contained a small fire at Transfiguration of Our Lord Ukrainian Church in Shamokin late Thursday night. Crews responded around 11 p.m. after a fire alarm and reports of smoke coming from the building. Officials say the fire was traced to a mechanical room in the basement, where debris and plastic crates were damaged. The blaze was extinguished without hose lines, but smoke spread through the church. The cause is under investigation, though a sump pump may have sparked the fire.
