Following a preliminary hearing, a Union County judge ruled there is enough evidence to send the case against fifty-six-year-old Pamela Hackenburg to the Court of Common Pleas. Police say she used her role as volunteer treasurer to take money on forty-two occasions over eleven months. Hackenburg is already is serving a state prison sentence for a separate theft case in Centre County involving more than half a million dollars in stolen township funds.
PA SEEKING OVERSIGHT AND REFORM FOR EMS FUNDING
Pennsylvania House Republicans are calling for immediate EMS funding reforms following a new state audit that found the Department of Health could not verify proper use of emergency medical services funds in most cases. The audit revealed nearly 38 million dollars distributed over four years, with major accountability issues. Representative Martin Causer has introduced House Bill 14-91 to create independent oversight for EMS funding. The bill is now in committee.

This year’s Susquehanna Valley United Way Diaper Dash collected a record 18-thousand-892 diapers and pull-ups, along with more than 130 packs of wipes and other baby care items for families across five counties. Organizers say the total topped last year’s drive and items are already being distributed to local diaper banks. United Way leaders say the donations will help ease financial strain for working families heading into the holiday season.

Greenawalt faces multiple felony charges and is free on unsecured bail ahead of a December ninth preliminary hearing.
DELAY FOR DRAW DOWN OF ROSE VALLEY LAKE
The planned drawdown of Rose Valley Lake in Lycoming County has been delayed until at least the fall of 2026. Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission officials say the setback is due to delays in the construction permitting process for repairs to the aging earthen dam on Mill Creek. The $5-million project includes a new concrete spillway and drainage improvements and is expected to take about five years. Officials say the work will ultimately improve fish habitat, and fishing restrictions at the lake remain lifted.
ACT 13 FUNDS LESS THAN EXPECTED
Williamsport’s natural gas impact fee, known as Act 13 funding, is down 37 percent this year, according to city officials. Finance Director Jamie Livermore says the city received about 100-seven thousand dollars less than expected, with additional unplanned levee expenses also contributing to the drop. Paving funds were reduced to help match future grant projects. The budget is scheduled for its first reading at City Council’s meeting Thursday night.
