PROPOSAL INTRODUCED FOR PART TIME LEGISLATORS IN HARRISBURG
A new proposal from Republican Rep. Stephanie Borowicz of Lock Haven calls for turning Pennsylvania’s full-time legislature into a part-time body. Lawmakers in Harrisburg earn more than $106,000 a year—among the highest in the nation—and Pennsylvania is one of only 10 states with a full-time legislature. Borowicz wants voters to decide through a constitutional amendment, but it must pass two consecutive sessions before reaching the ballot. Thirteen GOP lawmakers back the plan.
