YOUTH MINISTRY LEADER CHARGED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
A former youth ministry leader is facing federal child pornography charges after investigators say he hid a camera in a bathroom that teenagers used. According to North Central PA dot com, 51-year-old Daniel Reed of Juniata County, is accused of creating child pornography involving teen girls between the ages of 14 and 17. Investigators say a hidden camera setup was discovered at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ministries and they recovered explicit images from Reed’s home. The FBI is urging potential victims to come forward by calling 814-234-0341. Reed faces up to 70 years in prison if convicted.
MILTON WOMAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT
A Milton woman is behind bars after allegedly assaulting two police officers and a 1-year-old child during a violent domestic incident early Friday. According to the Daily Item, police say 24-year-old Genice Glasper threatened a man with a knife, struck a sleeping child, and later spit on two officers while resisting arrest. She attempted to flee police twice and fought officers at the station, requiring substantial force to be restrained. Glasper faces felony assault charges and is jailed on $80,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is pending.
FEDERAL FUNDS FOR TROPICAL STORM REPARATIONS
Snyder and Union counties will benefit from $6 million in federal funding to repair storm-damaged waterways following Tropical Storm Debby in August 2024. The funds, secured through the USDA’s Emergency Watershed Protection Program, will support 79 projects across nine counties. Pennsylvania DEP and PEMA combined state resources to meet the required match, unlocking federal aid. Recovery efforts will focus on clearing debris, stabilizing streambanks, and reducing erosion to protect homes and boost flood resilience.
CLINTON COUNTY FAIR THIS WEEKEND
The 52nd annual Clinton County Fair kicks off Saturday, July 26 in Mackeyville, with some new updates. According to fair officials, they have revised judging criteria for all special baking contests with participants encouraged to check pages 132 to 135 of the online Premium Rules Book for the latest guidelines. Due to poultry restrictions, there will be no open poultry, pigeon, or egg exhibits. Entertainment highlights include gospel singer Carol Sexton on July 29 and local band Speed Bump Willy on July 30. CHILD ENDANGERMENT CHARGES FOR MCCLURE PARENTS
A McClure couple is facing felony charges after their 5-year-old child was found wandering alone in Middleburg June 30th. According to the Daily Item, 41 year old Matthew Krebs, and 28 year old Brittany Krebs, are charged with felony child endangerment and misdemeanor reckless endangerment. Police say the child reportedly left the home while the parents were inside with three other kids and was missing for over 20 minutes before a neighbor alerted them. The Krebs were released on $5,000 unsecured bail and are set to appear in court August 6.
WOMAN TAKES A BIKE TO STEAL A CAR
A woman is behind bars after allegedly stealing a car in Hepburn Township after riding a bike to the scene. According to North Central PA dot com, police say 28-year-old Julye Ann Koch of Cogan Station rode the bike to a home on Fisher Road July 10, walked in without permission, stole car keys, and drove off in a white Kia Optima. Koch was charged with theft, receiving stolen property, and unauthorized vehicle use. She is being held at Lycoming County Prison on $15,000 bail.
SOME CHARGES DROPPED IN MINK FARM RELEASE CASE
The Northumberland County District Attorney has dropped a top felony charge against two Massachusetts activists accused of releasing nearly 700 mink from a Rockefeller Township farm. According to the News Item, Christopher Legere and Cara Mitrano instead face a third-degree felony for animal cruelty, plus 18 other charges including burglary, ecoterrorism, and theft. According to court records, prosecutors say the October 19 incident caused $164,000 in damage at the Richard H. Stahl and Sons mink farm. The FBI says that Mitrano is linked to the Animal Liberation Front, a known extremist group.
NEW SUPERINTENDENT AT SOUTHERN COLUMBIA
Southern Columbia Area School District has named Jillann Shupp as its new superintendent, succeeding Jim Becker, whose resignation was moved up to August 24. According to the News Item, Shupp was the district’s current director of special education and student services, but was unanimously approved Monday night for a three-year contract starting August 25th. A Berwick native and Temple University graduate, Shupp brings years of experience from Philadelphia, Danville, and Benton school districts. She says her top priorities include school safety and building strong connections within the community. Shupp’s consistent and confident leadership.

Edmundo Sosa won the game when, with the bases loaded and no outs in the 10th inning, his check swing on a 2-2 pitch struck the glove of catcher Carlos Narvaez. The Phillies called for a review, which showed the contact, allowing Sosa to take first and automatic runner Brandon Marsh to score the winning run.
