TRAFFIC STOP RESULTS IN FELONY CHARGES
Two people face charges after a traffic stop on Route 220 near Reach Road uncovered drugs and a gun. State police say 46-year-old Lashun Clark of Virginia was driving with a suspended license when troopers pulled over his vehicle for illegal window tint. A search of the car, owned by passenger Britney Dryer of North Carolina, turned up 40 grams of marijuana and a handgun. Clark, a convicted felon, claimed the marijuana, while Dryer said the gun was hers—though police found no record of its purchase. Both were jailed on felony charges.
SIMPLE ASSAULT CHARGES FOR HUGHESVILLE MAN
A Hughesville man has been found guilty of simple assault following disturbing testimony from an alleged victim in Lycoming County Court. According to the Sun Gazette, prosecutors say 47-year-old Ryan David Brandon assaulted the woman—his partner of 11 years—while driving her to work this past April, grabbing her by the ponytail, striking her, and threatening to crash the car. The woman described years of abuse and shared a threatening voicemail in court. Brandon denied the allegations, claiming she started the fight. The jury acquitted him of more serious charges. Sentencing is set for August 15.
THIRD ARREST THIS YEAR FOR WILLIAMSPORT MAN
A Williamsport teen is back behind bars after being caught with a stolen firearm. According to the Sun Gazette, Amontae Morris Pinkney, 18, was arrested Tuesday when authorities found the weapon inside his West Edwin Street apartment. He’s now facing a felony charge of receiving stolen property. This marks his third arrest since February, when police say he was found with a stolen handgun and drugs. He was also charged in April with intent to deliver crack cocaine. Pinkney is currently jailed on $100,000 bail.
NEW MANUFACTURING PLANT COMES TO MUNCY
A California-based energy company is bringing new jobs and innovation to Lycoming County. Verne Inc. will open a manufacturing plant in Muncy to produce mobile compressed-hydrogen storage tanks used to fuel generators. The $4.5 million project is expected to create at least 61 jobs and be operational within nine months. The state is supporting the effort with nearly $1.3 million in loans and grants. The tanks are part of Verne’s plan to build a decentralized energy network, serving data centers, construction sites, and airports.
DRUG RELATED CHARGES FOR WILLIAMSPORT WOMAN
A Williamsport woman has been found guilty of possessing cocaine with intent to deliver. According to NorthCentralPa.com, A Lycoming County jury convicted Sarah Valencia after police discovered crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, scales, and cash during a raid of her home in December 2023. The drugs were found in a man’s jacket inside the home, but prosecutors argued Valencia had control of the property and its contents. She was also convicted of possession of paraphernalia. Valencia is set to be sentenced September 26.
ALLEGED OFFENDER GRANTED BAIL
A Lycoming County man accused of giving kids drugs and alcohol in exchange for sex may soon go free — if he can post $100,000 bail. According to NorthCentralPA.com, Colin James Best, 40, faces child pornography and other serious charges, with more federal indictments expected. He argued in court this week that justice has been delayed claiming his two cases fall under Rule 600, which states defendants are entitled to a quick and speedy trial and a judge partially agreed, granting bail with strict conditions. Investigators say Best secretly filmed minors, some while undressing or using vapes. Victims were heard crying in court as the decision was announced. Best has prior convictions and denies the current charges.
MAN ALLEGEDLY RUNS OVER WOMAN
A Montoursville man is facing attempted homicide and other charges after allegedly running over a woman with his car outside a Kelly Township restaurant Thursday morning. According to the Sun Gazette, State police say 21-year-old Caleb Timothy Daniels struck one of two women after a confrontation about ending a relationship. The woman suffered serious injuries and was flown to Geisinger Medical Center. Daniels fled the scene but was arrested shortly after. He remains in Union County Prison on $400,000 bail. Charges also include aggravated assault, robbery, and furnishing liquor to minors.
FOURTH OF JULY CRASH STATISTICS
The Pennsylvania State Police released crash and enforcement statistics following the Independence Day travel period. From July through July 6, troopers investigated 803 vehicle crashes, resulting in 12 fatalities and 156 injury-related crashes. While 2025 saw fewer total crashes and citations than the previous year, which covered a 5 day period, lives lost remained unchanged at 12. These figures represent only incidents handled by the Pennsylvania State Police and do not include those investigated by local or regional law enforcement agencies.
