GUNSHOT VICTIM RECOVERING
Police have released details about a shooting that occurred Monday night in the area of Hillside Avenue in Williamsport.  That shooting incident after 9pm, sent one man to the Williamsport Regional hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and he is reportedly recovering, but there were more gunshots around 11pm along the 2500 block of West Fourth Street brought police to that scene.  According to the Sun Gazette, a resident told police that their vehicle was shot a dozen times and the back window was broken.  Police say they don’t know if the two incidents are related, saying it’s possible that the damage could have been done to the car by pellets.

FIRE STARTED AT MONTOURSVILLE QUARRY
Fire officials reported that an acetylene torch started a fire yesterday at Hanson Aggregates in Montoursville.  The Montoursville Fire Department responded to the fire incident around 6:54 am Monday which reportedly started when the torch accidentally ignited materials from a routine maintenance task in a tower structure.  According to North Central PA dot com Williamsport Firefighters Local 736, South Williamsport Fire Department and Muncy Township assisted at Hanson Quarry and the fire was extinguished by shortly after 7am.  No injuries were reported.

POLICE SEEK INFORMATION ABOUT OFF-CAMPUS DEATH
State College authorities are asking for help from anyone who has information about the death of a 17 year old high school student who died in an off-campus house there Saturday.  Penn State University authorities have also suspended the Alpha Delta Chapter of the Chi Phi Fraternity but the residence where the incident took place was not an official fraternity house.  John Schoenig, the teen who was a student at Cathedral Prep and Villa Maria Academy in Erie, was discovered unresponsive by police Saturday night at a home on West College Avenue in State College and later died.

TEEN DRIVER SAFETY WEEK STARTS
State Representatives and PennDOT, kicked off Teen Driver Safety Week in Pennsylvania yesterday.  A forum was held to call attention to teen driver safety and share important safety information in a question and answer format.  According to lawmakers, motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death among teens.  Suggestions for parents with teen drivers include buckling up, being a good example, limit the  number of passengers riding along, and using common sense.  Join in the Safety conversation on Instagram at #PATeenDriver.

TRACTOR TRAILER ROLLS OVER ON I-80 EAST
Union County motorists may encounter some slow-downs on I-80 east today after a tractor trailer rollover has traffic down to  a single lane.  According to PennDOT, a tractor trailer riolled over around mile 198, approximately one mile west of the Mile Run Exit in Buffalo Township.  The left lane is expected to be closed for several hours for clean-up.

ALLEGED RAPIST IN JAIL
A Mill Hall man has been incarcerated and a hearing scheduled for next month after Lock Haven Police arrested him for sexual assault, strangulation and illegal possession of a firearm while he was on probation for a similar crime.  According to the Sun Gazette, 44 year old Robert Russell Gillin allegedly strangled a female victim to unconsciousness and then raped her October 7th at a home in Lock Haven.  Gillin was on probation for a previous second degree strangulation charge from July of 2018 which was later dismissed to endangering another person instead, and he pled guilty to that charge. According to North Central PA dot com, Gillin is now on a probation retainer in Clinton County Prison awaiting a November 4th court date.

INMATE DIES IN SNYDER COUNTY FACILITY
A 51 year old inmate was declared deceased at the SCI Coal Township facility Monday.  According to State police reports, Basilio Davilia, who was serving a 2 and a half to five year sentence for illegally possessing firearms in Philadelphia County, was discovered unresponsive in his cell around 915pm.  According to WKOK the Northumberland County Coroner has no cause of death and will continue the investigation.

BUILDING WILL BE DEMOLISHED
The former Sunbury generation LLC coal fired plant in Shamokin dam will be demolished beginning this Friday.  Officials from Snyder County say the eastern half of the former PPL plant will be taken down by controlled implosion. Watch for restricted water traffic along the immediate area of the Susquehanna River.  Pedestrians will be prohibited from walking on the Old Trail between Park Rd and Eleventh avenue Friday morning until at least 10am.  According to WKOK, there will be a substantial police presence nearby.

REPRESENTATIVES INTRODUCE FIRST RESPONDER HELP BILL
In a state initiative this month to pass legislation to assist first responders called “Heroes and Helpers” a bill has been introduced that will provide financial help for purchases out of their pockets for safety equipment. State representatives Garth Everett and Jeff Wheeland supported the bill sponsored by Representative Clint Owlett of Wellsboro that will offer 500 dollars of tax credits for volunteers who purchase their own equipment in order to provide safety and emergency services for the public.
